Being a star player is the best achievement an individual player can have, and in the middle of their career they want an achievement that every player is looking for, something that every player is chasing for 8 months every year, championship ring.
In the NBA history, no team has ever won a title that depends on just one key player. Some teams might not win a title, but they are spectacular and considered as a title contender. In order to make it on top, a team must have key players, some teams have “Big 3”, but having just a duo is far more dangerous.
Batman and Robin, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Frodo and Sam, these are just fictional characters, but we all know they tend to rely on each other to complete a certain task. Just like in basketball, teamplay is a key to win, and having a dynamic duo in a team is the best key. We have here the list of NBA’s greatest duo of all time, born to play, fated to win.
- Walt Frazier – Willis Reed
A 50+ win and a title shot, this was all credit to the Knicks’ duo, they fought together to give the team a good record and have the opportunity to have a title. They were two hard working players that understood the value of locking down on the defensive end and it is here they excelled, but they were also more than capable of shouldering the scoring. Frazier was an excellent playmaker whilst Reed had the strength and footwork to dominate down low, but he also had a soft shooting touch which made him difficult to guard.
Their toughness was exhibited by Willis Reed when he emerged from the tunnel in game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, wherein he provides an emotional lift to help his team to win the game. This duo reign from 1970 to 1973 season, winning two NBA titles with the duo getting a little help from Earl “The Pearl” Monroe in ’73.
